Flow over steps

The following examples concern channel flows over steps.

Near the step, the flow separates and produces complex flow patterns, oscillating in space and time. The complexity of the problem depends on the:

  • inflow speed
  • viscosity
  • size and shape of the step, in relation to the channel geometry
