Flow around a car at medium Reynolds number, starting from rest. This simulation is a first pre-study of the flow behaviour for a recent BMBF project together with Daimler--Benz/Stuttgart.


  • Distribution of temperature/concentration via Boussinesq model

    Visualization via temperature distribution, starting from the (interior) heated shape of the car (first, second and third (as zoom), with different color maps, 2.2 MB, 2.7 MB and 3.6 MB), and via tracing of concentration, starting from the inlet (fourth and fifth, different color maps, 3.5 MB and 3.9 MB).

  • Pressure

    Visualization via pressure plots, shaded (first, 2.5 MB) and via isolines (second, zoomed, 14.1 MB).

  • Streamfunction

    Visualization via streamline plots, shaded (first, 2.6 MB) and via isolines (second, zoomed, 9.8 MB).

  • Velocity

    Visualization via vector plots (vectors, 6.4 MB) in a zoomed area.
