Flow around a truck (without wind shield, with cargo, street version) at low Reynolds number

Computational details
Short description and remarks

Short description and remarks

Flow around a truck at low Reynolds number, starting from rest. This simulation is part of a comparative study (by students during the FEATFLOW Praktikum 1995/96 at Heidelberg) with the aim to figure out the influence of the wind shield on the top of the truck, for different configurations. See the results for the higher Reynolds number situations.

  • Distribution of temperature/concentration via Boussinesq model

Visualization via tracing of concentration, starting from the inlet (first, 0.9 MB), and via temperature distribution, starting from the (interior) heated shape of the truck (second, 0.8 MB).

  • Pressure

Visualization via pressure plots, shaded (first, 0.5 MB) and via isolines (second, 2.4 MB).

  • Streamfunction

Visualization via streamline plots, shaded (first, 0.6 MB) and via isolines (second, zoomed, 2.2 MB).

  • Velocity

Visualization via vector plots (vectors, 3.0 MB) in a zoomed area.
